LUCY AND THE PHOTO BOAT
Lucy Grant works as a nurse in a small town in Scotland. Taking photos is her favorite hobby, and she does it whenever she has free time. She photographs birds, trees and old houses. Later, she shows the pictures to her friends because she wants to know what they think.(lines 1–3)
Until last spring, Lucy went to a photo club in her town every week. Then the club closed. Lucy hoped to learn how to take better photos. She also wanted to meet people who love photography as much as she does. But the closest club is far away, and Lucy has no car.(lines 4–6)
One day, a friend told Lucy some good news: a Photo Boat was going to visit her town. This boat sails up and down the river and stops at small towns. At the front, there is a classroom with cameras and computers. The back of the boat has no roof. Visitors start with a lesson about cameras in the classroom. After that, they walk to the back and take photos of the river with other photographers.(lines 7–11)
Lucy visited the Photo Boat and loved it. "Now I know a lot more about my camera, and I found new friends on the boat," she says. "We often go out together to photograph birds. I'm really happy that my friend told me about the boat."(lines 12–14)
