SAVE THE BEES

Recently, a restaurant in Sweden put an unusual beehive near its door. Although it is a real beehive, it looks just like a tiny copy of the restaurant itself. Today, many people in Sweden own beehives and there are many beehives on the roofs of buildings. All these beehives are safe homes for thousands of bees.(lines 1–5)
Every year there are fewer bees in the world. One reason for this is climate change. Another reason is a virus that is killing bees. Scientists worry that bees will soon disappear completely. This will be a disaster. Everybody knows that bees make honey from flowers. But many people don't know that without bees, we wouldn't have fruit and vegetables. Bees carry pollen from plant to plant. Without pollen, nothing new will grow: no fruit, no vegetables, no flowers. Can you imagine a world like that?(lines 6–11)
Scientists are looking for solutions to save the bees. Until they find a solution, many people are trying to help in different ways. One of the ways is putting beehives on their roofs. In these beehives, the bees get the food they need and they make honey, which they often need, too. Also, their numbers can increase. Hopefully, other ways to save the bees will be found soon.(lines 12–15)
