THE IMPORTANCE OF EATING VEGETABLES

Everybody knows that it is important to eat vegetables. The vitamins and minerals they contain are important for our health. It is especially important to eat them during childhood because they help children develop in a healthy way.(lines 1–4)
Scientists found that children who eat vegetables every day do better in school than children who do not. One reason may be that the vitamins and minerals in vegetables help children's brains develop well. Another reason may be that they have more energy to work harder in school. Still another reason can be that children who eat vegetables get sick less often and do not miss school as often as children who do not eat vegetables.(lines 5–12)
Scientists also found that children who eat vegetables every day continue to include vegetables in their diets, even when they are adults. And these adults who eat vegetables have better health and more active brains. So, healthy eating habits that we learn in childhood stay with us and are important later in life, too.(lines 13–16)
